Eco Design was commissioned to undertake a commercial build-out for the Center City District’s facility in Philadelphia. The project involved renovating their old facilities to create a more modern, professional, and welcoming workplace.
The Center City District (CCD) is a business leadership organization that aims to enhance the competitiveness and vitality of Philadelphia’s downtown area. To achieve this, they created the CCD business improvement district in 1991, which provides daily services to make Center City clean and safe. Over the years, their efforts have helped transform Center City into a bustling 24-hour downtown that attracts businesses, residents, students, shoppers, and tourists alike.
In addition to their daily services, the CCD is responsible for managing four public spaces in the heart of Center City: Dilworth, Sister Cities, John F. Collins, and Cret Parks. These public spaces are extraordinary and play a vital role in the city’s social and cultural life. The Center City District Foundation (CCDF) was established in 2016 to support the next generation of public space improvements in Center City Philadelphia.
Eco Design’s renovation of the CCD facility was a significant undertaking that required careful planning and execution. The goal was to create a space that reflected the CCD’s mission and values while providing a functional and comfortable environment for staff and visitors.
The design incorporated natural elements, such as wood accents and indoor plants, to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The darker wood accents added a touch of sophistication to the space, while the open-plan layout allowed for greater collaboration and communication among staff.
Eco Design also incorporated sustainable features into the design, such as energy-efficient lighting, recycled materials, and water-saving fixtures, to reduce the environmental impact of the facility.
